Relines and Repairs
Reline:
There are three different types of relines that can be done depending on the patients specific needs. A hard reline is the best way to make a denture fit comfortably without completing a full new fitting. A soft reline is done when the gums are tender and create sore spots. A soft reline uses more comfortable material but requires more adjustments than a hard reline. A temporary reline involves relining the denture with medicated material that helps reduce inflammation of the gums.
Repair:
Repairs can be done in order to restore the dentures to the original state if they become broken or cracked. A repair may also be required if a tooth needs to be added to the denture (due to extractions) and for general wear and tear. Most repairs can be completed within a couple of hours and can indicate underlying issues related to the age of the denture, how it fits and its function.
